Following the stages is very important, here you will see how I followed the
stages for my lesson (Subject/Verb agreement).
-Stage 1. Determine students’ need: recognized a student need when I decided to
1~Give students a picture and let them write freely.
2~Ask the students to give examples about subject/verb agreement.
3~Ask the students to give 3 complete sentences about any topic they want.
-Stage 2. Determine learning goals:
1~Students will be able to distinguish the write place of each punctuation mark.
2~students will be able to construct sentences with the appropriate subject/verb agreement.
3~students will be able to organize a well coherent essay.
-Stage 3. Design learning activities: decided how to lead students to achieve the
objective by designing these 3 actions ( activities)
1~Give students a paragraph with wrong subject/verb agreement and they should
correct it.
2~Give the students 5 sentences, and they should provide each sentence with the correct
punctuation mark.
3~write a short paragraph about any topic they want.
-Stage 4. Prepare learning activities:
1~Give them a worksheet that contains the first question.
2~Write the second question on the board and they will all engage by getting up and
answer.
3~Go to nature and let the students write their paragraphs freely.
-Stage 5. Conduct the learning activities:
-First I will give them a listening test for 30 minutes; they have to listen to the paragraph
very carefully and then write all the subject/verb agreements mentioned. Then I will give
them 15 minutes more to write the (subject/verb) agreement that they wrote and put them
in sentences from their own.
-Then I will give them a big test that contain every single detail that they took in the
lesson and let them solve it in 50 minutes.
-Stage 6. Determine how well students have achieved the learning objectives:
After correcting and assessing students’ work, I discover the students’ weaknesses and
we worked on it by reviewed the lesson and did a lot of extra sheets about it. Then after
that they did the big test, I (teacher) conducting and assessing the majority of students
answers and all the questions are correct.
